Mouse House

  • Feb 5

Tiny weasel peeks from a hollow in a rough tree trunk, wide-eyed and alert.

If we bought a house that housed

a big mouse, I’d call up

my spouse and suggest that

we douse the creature

who moved into our house.

But then I thought, what if

it had kids and a spouse?

Hiding out in their home

inside of our house?

They would surely get doused, then I’d feel like a louse.

I asked my spouse to rethink dousing the mouse, his kids

and his spouse because they already made a home

inside of our house.

My spouse grew fond of the mouse, choosing kindness for

him, his kids, and his spouse

We decided to share our house with this mouse,

his kids and his spouse.

In the end, with the mice inside of their house; in our house,

we all learned to live peacefully and no one got doused.
