Choices

This life isn’t for

the faint of heart,

weak willed or ill of mind.

It can be unexpected,

overwhelming, cruel and kind.

All wrapped up in a fragile ball;

just waiting to come undone.

Placed deliberately, inviting someone

like me to wonder at its hidden fun.

It spins a tale of sacrifice, a story we long to understand.

In time we come to realize; we're sinking in a pit of quick-sand.

The ways of the world around us, as unjust as they are,

They force us to choose fight or flight,

before we even know what the choices are.
