Anytime

I don’t understand why you have alienated me. I’m not really sure what I may have done.

Maybe you prefer keeping to yourself,

feeling like you don’t need anyone else.

Perhaps you have a busy life that takes up all of your time.

I can understand that; I’ve been there with mine.

We both made it through the darkness. You were always there for me,

and when the time came, you got away from the insanity.

I can’t say that I blame you for leaving when you did.

I mimicked you when I got the chance; only I was bringing a kid. 

It saddens me that we missed out on seeing each other’s kids grow;

now that yours are older, I’m grateful to know them – my heart's aglow.

Maybe one day you will knock on my door. Then we can sit and chat for

a while and be strangers nevermore.
